The Empire for Elephants Earrings
Brass or 24k Gold Plated
A 1900s circus is nothing without its Elephant and why have an elephant around if not for good luck. On the wall of my bedroom is a gorgeous painting by Moira Frith. My sister knows I love her work so she bought it as a prezzie. I realised recently that Moira’s elephant had inspired mine - queueing up in my mind and patiently awaiting to be realised in wax and metal. The elephants face and crown is most likely that of Babar. La petit Elephant was one of my favourite books as a child and a character my bestie and I used to play with when we told stories.
Parade draws inspiration from the ballet of the same name, by Leonide Massine, Eric Satie, Jean Cocteau and with costumes and set design by Pablo Picasso. Continuing on with my circus themed jewels I looked to Parade for a cubist spin. First performed by the Ballets Russes in Paris in 1917, the production is set at a funfair or fairground and follows the story of a traveling circus troupe.
I invite you to adorn your favourite performer…
